Peter Dutton finally says YES to something
Hahaha, Peter Dutton “Doctor No” says YES and even he can’t believe it. Wedged like a golfer in a sand bunker Peter Dutton couldn’t say no to the stage 3 tax cuts and it must be pissing him off no end.
Forced to agree to the stage 3 tax cuts Per Dutton has had to break his Dr. No persona in half and state that he supports the stage 3 tax cuts. It's worth remembering that it was the #LNP that first proposed the tax cuts with stages 1 & 2 already imp[implemented. Labor supported the cuts when the coalition was in government but this was seen largely as a decision to see some relief for the lower paid at the time.
Regardless of why Labor supported the original cuts, times have changed and economic conditions are different and the current changes are widely supported by the public according to polls. Dutton was 'nowhere man' on this and he was effectively snookered, and outsmarted by Albanese and Chalmers - If Dutton opposed the new cuts, which would have had no effect as he doesn't have the balance of power, he would have been seen as a right prick, especially in the all-important electorate of Dunkley where a by-election will be held in march, imagine that, saying he didn't support the cuts which the majority of that electorate will benefit from AND saying so wouldn't change a thing, he has no power.
So, with the support of the independents, Teals and The Greens, the stage 3 amended tax cuts will go through and Dutton will be having sleepless nights.
